UWM 59FIFTY

This project involved designing a custom New Era 59FIFTY cap for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) to fill a gap in the team store’s merchandise offerings. The design incorporates key UWM branding, including the athletic panther logo on the front, the UWM wordmark on the back, and a custom patch on the right celebrating the baseball team’s 2002 Horizon League championship. The objective was to create a stylish, commemorative product that appeals to UWM students, alumni, and sports fans while promoting school pride. This cap offers a premium, unique merchandise option for UWM, showcasing my ability to blend brand identity with creative design to meet market needs.

Front Patch

This is the official UWM Athletic Panther Logo. I used this logo because it is bold, unique, and quite frankly the only university logo that I can see being put onto a New Era Fitted hat.

Side Patch Right

This is the custom side patch that I created for the right side panel of the hat. I took inspiration from the UWM Baseball teams championship from back in 2002. I was drawing inspiration from things such as the Hoan bridge and the city’s flag to help bring a touch of Milwaukee into the design.

Back Patch

This wordmark typically appears underneath the Athletic Logo and I figured would fit perfectly on the back of the hat in order to signify which city this hat is representing.
